a question for bloggers

I've been thinking about my 4 years of blogging. I began because I was changing and needed help sorting through. I've continued to change, but now can see that the act of blogging and developing treasured friendships here have also changed me.

So what I want to know is:

How have you changed since you began blogging, and how much of that do you attribute to the process and results of the blogging itself?

If you end up making a post of your own on this subject, please leave a link in comments. I know that Saturday isn't a big day for blogging, so please come back to the question next week if you don't have time right away.

I'll bite.

I am just getting ready to post my 3rd year state of the blog address, so it fits. But I might not get it done until Monday...busy weekend.

I was just thinking along these lines recently. I originally began blogging because of people I knew who were blogging. It was a great way to get to know them better and converse with people I saw regularly at church but didn't know real well. Also I blogged to let family who were far away know what was happening with us.

The latter is still one of the reasons I blog, but I found as I started questioning the way we did church, solace in finding people who seemed to be going through similar places or who had been there and were paving the way.

I found myself following the lives and thoughts of people I have never met in person. Especially since we have moved it has been nice to have those connections.

thanks Chad.
I agree- it is nice to have that continuity of friends on the web. I haven't moved, but I have the feeling that no matter what, you all would be here. I like that.

Hey Cindy,
This is something that I've been thinking about a lot lately. I'm not ready to blog about it yet, but it is a question that I am seriously pondering - what the changes have been and if they are positive changes. If nothing else, I know that I treasure the relationships that have developed, especially those from the early days. :)

thanks, Grace. I'll be anxious to read your post when it comes together. I can see how much you've changed, and it will be interesting to hear your description of it.

Great question! I need to think about this, but when I write my response at "The Beach" I'll post the link.

I really appreciated what Jim had written. It's obvious that he has learned from contact with others who are open minded and willing to move outside their own comfort zones.

I have been in touch with hundreds of people over a period of some ten years using forums and email. It has taken a long time to really appreciate the enormous difference between the Christian religion and the Christian faith

It was Cindy who encouraged me to blog earlier in the year - it hasn't worked out in the way that I would have expected. The biggest surprise is that directly as a result of blogging I have learned about Aspergers Syndrome and recognised that this is something that I have always lived with. This is exciting - it explains so many things.

I've made some changes to the web site and enabled people to respond with comments on the blog.

I realise that this isn't the way most people do it (but there are a limited number of bloggers over 70), but I'd appreciate any thoughts of how it might be improved.

I sense that Jim has 'collected his thoughts' and moved on a bit. I've been on the journey a long time and I've tried to share many of the questions that I was faced with along the way.

Thanks Cindy for the initial prodding.

Pete!
It's so good to hear from you!

What an amazing discovery about Aspergers. I've heard the stories of other adults who were similarly thrilled when they learn they've lived with Aspergers unknowingly all their lives.

I'm happy to have been a part of your journey and I congratulate you on how much you've done in your search for answers and direction. You're right. There aren't many 70 year old bloggers! That makes you quite extraordinary!

I pray that your continued journey in faith and self discovery will give you increasing joy and peace.
